Okay, its more than midway through May suddenly. What happened to April I’m wondering. Yesterday it was February and now suddenly its almost June. There is something wrong with my journey through time. Or maybe time is just sneaky.
Some would say that this is a result of getting older, but no – time has always sneaked past me while I wasn’t looking. I graduated from college in the mid 1970’s and got a job in New York on Long Island. Then it was the 90’s and I was living in Florida. It is like the 80’s never happened at all, or maybe they happened to someone other than myself. I was there.
I must have seen something. I remember disco (oops, that was the 70’s). I remember when the first Star Wars movie came out – um 70’s again.
Did anything notable happen in the 1980’s? Was there any significant music? A spectacular movie? Was I unconscious the whole time?
Then it happened again around the turn of the century. Time sneaked past me again. The year 2000 was supposed to bring chaos and computer doom to the entire world. But it didn’t happen. Or did it and I just slept through the whole thing. Y2K has a very dream-like quality to it in hindsight.
So, looking back it would seem that the time sneaks are becoming shorter in duration. Now I am missing mere months where before I had gaps of centuries and years. As I look around, I don’t see time lurking anywhere, getting ready to streak past me again, but I know it will.
